More than celebrating ourselves, journals provide us a way to be extremely aware of our surroundings. It is for this reason that, one of the best ways to make sure seasonal living is a priority is simply to notice and record what’s happening in the natural world during each season. This doesn’t have to be anything elaborate, it’s simply jotting down a note about the natural world and perhaps recording just how that natural rhythm is playing out inside our homes as well.

Journals allow us a place to record and dream. This is the place to record what's happening and how we're making sure to give our seasonal intentions time to develop each and every day.

This is where the rubber meets the road in some sense. It can be simple one or two lines like:

March 22: The calendar says spring, the sky said winter with a brief snowstorm.
April 10: Canadian Geese with babies spotted on the golf course walk today.
May 15: Lunch was salad from completely foraged greens mostly dandelion and purslane.

If you’re not a writer, perhaps your journal is a sketchbook or even photographs. There’s no reason instagram can’t be your journal if you so choose. Create a simple journal (whatever that means to you) - it can be something tangible or something electronic. Record in that journal the things happening in the natural world and try to record and sense it with all of your senses. Record thoughts of anything meaningful to you.

You'll notice that this page has a spot to note the weather - feel free to use words or draw a picture, obviously weather is a great way to just begin noticing the seasons. Is it raining? Cloudy? Sunny? Etc. It can be a general or specific as you like.
